Southwest Airline Allows Two Bags checked in for FREE

Southwest Airline is the only sensible airline that still allows passengers to travel with more than a toothbrush. It wasn’t too long ago that all airlines allowed 2 free bags. Even since fuel went up and travel went down and the government added a nine eleven 9/11 fee airlines were desperately looking for new revenue.

According to a CNN Travel article, JFK alone handles 48 million passengers each year. If 50% of these customers had to pay for luggage $50 that’s $1,200,000,000 - 1.2 Billion dollars just from one airport. And if 15% of these people made a flight change at an average of $100 each that’s another $720,000,000 in fees and this is all before they ever take off.

The fees amount to a consumer tax that will not go away since airlines so reliant on it for cash flow and shareholders.

Should all airlines allow 2 Bags FREE? Please comment.
