Korean Airlines Flight lands - Bomb Threat Call

Korean Airlines Flight lands after bomb threat

Korean Airlines Boeing 777 from Vancouver to Seoul was diverted to a nearby Canadian military base after the airline's U.S. call center received a bomb threat.

www.powermiles.com

Authorities searched the aircraft early Wednesday and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said nothing suspicious was found.
Korean Airlines said in a statement that the call center received the threat about 25 minutes after take-off from Vancouver International Airport.

Officials said the aircraft with 149 passengers then turned around.
A Canadian spokeswoman for The North American Aerospace Defense Command, said two U.S. F-15 fighter jets from Portland, Oregon, escorted the plane to Canada's Comox air base on Vancouver Island, 113 miles outside Vancouver.
Flight passengers and crew stayed overnight in the area while officials did a detailed search of the plane's luggage.
Nothing suspicious had been found.
Korean Airlines flight out of Vancouver faced a similar threat Monday and the all-clear was given after a two hour search. He said Monday's threat was called in somewhere other than the airline's U.S. call center but he declined to say where.
Korean Air spokeswoman Penny Pfaelzer, based in Los Angeles, said that the caller warned that an explosive was on board the aircraft.
An airline spokeswoman in Korea said all the passengers and crew were safe and that the airline would decide on a new departure time after a safety inspection.

American Airlines flights no longer listed on Orbitz and Expedia

American Airlines flights no longer listed on Orbitz and Expedia

Q: Is the airline ticket I purchased on Expedia or Orbitz to travel on American Airlines still valid?

A: All airline tickets already purchased via Expedia or Orbitz are still valid for travel and all original fare rules are still in effect. However if you need to make a change to your existing ticket purchased on Orbitz, you will need to contact AA Reservations at 1-800-433-7300.

Q: What if I need to make a change to my flight that was booked through Orbitz?

A: You will need to contact AA Reservations at 1-800-433-7300 to make changes to your itinerary that includes flights on American or American Eagle. For changes other than American Airline or American Eagle flights - contact Orbitz.com.

Q: What if I need to make a change to my flight that was booked through Expedia?

A: You will need to contact Expedia Customer Support at 1-877-787-1205 to make changes to your itinerary that includes flights on American or American Eagle.

Q: Where can I shop, compare and buy airline tickets online for travel on American Airlines?

A: There are many options to shop and compare, however www.aa.com, is the best place to do business online with American Airlines. AA.com provides numerous ways to conveniently search for the most accurate and up-to-date information and to book low airfares and free award travel; select your seats; make hotel, rental car and cruise reservations; get flight arrival/departure information; request upgrades; sign up for flight status notifications; and check in and print your boarding passes.

American also continues to provide its airfare content to thousands of travel agency partners, both through global distribution systems and through American's own direct connection technology that it is powered by Farelogix.

Q: Where can I get the best deal for travel on American Airlines?

A: You'll always get our lowest airfares, guaranteed on AA.com and pay no online booking fees. Plus you can search by Price and Schedule to view up to 40 flights and prices for your travel dates. If your dates are flexible, you can also see our lowest prices 3 days before and after your selected travel dates. For details on our Lowest Airfare Guarantee, see the Lowest Fare Guarantee Terms and Conditions. Or, to file a claim, go to the Lowest Fare Guarantee Online Claim.

Q: Are American's fares still available on Expedia?

A: No. Expedia has decided to remove American flights and fares from its website. This may lead consumers into believing that they have fewer choices, even in situations where American's fares are lower, and schedules are superior, to other airlines still listed.

Customers looking to compare flights or fares online should visit other travel sites such as Kayak.com or Priceline.com for the most accurate and up-to-date information, or you can always find our Lowest Fares Guaranteed and No Online Booking Fee at AA.com. American flights can also be purchased from a wide range of accredited travel agencies across the globe.

Q: Is Egencia affected?

A: No.

Q: Why aren't American's fares available on Orbitz?

A: We were unable to reach a mutually beneficial agreement with Orbitz that would provide customers with a full choice of American Airlines fares and schedules. As a result, Orbitz is no longer authorized to display our schedules or sell airline tickets for travel on American Airlines or American Eagle.

Q: Is Orbitz For Business affected?

A: Yes. Customers with negotiated corporate contracts with American may use another agency of record to access their discounted pricing with American. Business ExtrAA members have the additional option of using AA.com.

Q: Is American going to cancel its participation in other online travel agencies?

A: American is a strong supporter of customer choice and continues to provide its airfare content to travel agency partners, both through traditional global distribution systems and through American's own direct connection technology that is powered by Farelogix.

Q: What is a Direct Connect and what is American asking these online agencies to change?

A: A "direct connect" model simply relates to how data is transmitted in back-end reservation systems and would be transparent to customers. American's approach will allow travel agencies the freedom to communicate reservation data directly with the airline, in the same way that many agencies work with hotel and car rental companies today.

Q: Does American want customers to be able to comparison shop across airlines?

A: Yes. American is a strong believer in pricing transparency and the choice afforded customers by our inclusion in online shopping comparisons. American is committed to working with all distribution channels, including traditional travel agencies, online travel agencies and global distribution systems to include AA prices and schedules. We will continue to negotiate in good faith to reach terms with Orbitz and Expedia that will benefit customers and position each company for sustainable success.

Q: How would it benefit customers for online agencies to convert to a direct connect model?

A: Traditionally, airline products have consisted of different types of airfare. However, travel choices are expanding beyond fares to include optional services like checked baggage, priority boarding, and preferred seating. Our direct connection will help customers by giving them access to customized choices and delivering the best value for their individual travel needs. Our goal is to have as broad a distribution as possible, creating choices for our customers in every channel, with our products and services delivered efficiently.
